Trulicity ingredients

Trulicity contains dulaglutide. This human GLP-1 receptor agonist activates these receptors in beta cells in the pancreas, stimulating insulin secretion.

 

 It also helps reduce glucagon levels (hormone can increased blood sugar levels) and slow down food emptying.

Trulicity uses

Trulicity is used to treat type 2 diabetes, especially in patients with 10 years or more of diabetes without being able to control blood sugar levels.

 

Trulicity may be used alone in treatment, or along with some other prescribed medications for diabetics.

Trulicity dosage and method of use

• The doctor should determine the appropriate dose.

• The prescribed dose must be adhered to by the doctor.

• Maximum allowable dose is 4.5 mg per week.

• The drug is injected subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.

• The drug is neither used by intravenous or intramuscular injections.

Trulicity side effects

Trulicity may cause some side effects, such as:

• Low blood sugar levels (especially when used with insulin or other diabetes drugs).

• Nausea.

Trulicity contraindications

Trulicity is not used in the case of:

• The patient or a family member has previously had medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2.

Trulicity precautions
